New Place, Old Face

The New Place was a small building and the people there called the program "Pathways."  It is not clear to us yet exactly what they do, except to feed homeless people and offer them some shelter during the day, in order to get out of the elements and sleep in a quiet, safe location.

The Old Face we saw at "Pathways" was Lynne (pictured at left) ...we have seen Lynne MANY times over the past 3 years.  She used to hang out with a man named George, holding a sign in front of a convenience store, but who is now in jail for pulling a knife on someone.  Reminds us of the danger on the streets!  Every time we see Lynne, she is so glad to see us and is always so gracious, kind and grateful.  Lynne keeps telling me that God is watching over her and one day she is going to do what we do.

We also went to a new location, one that we tried with great success last week...Lake Dot on Colonial.  The two ladies that stand out the most to me are Terese and Fan.  They women had

just met last night; both are down on their luck.  When Sandy asked who God was to them, Terese said, "He is my Saviour!" We found out she just came back to Orlando from Alabama, and has already lost her ID.  She is in the process of getting a new one.  You literally cannot do anything without an ID!  It was a sweet blessing to run into these two ladies and they were most grateful for the divine encounter.  We prayed with Terese as she wept, asking God to help her move forward with her life.

It is an overwhelming feeling to be used by God in such a fashion.  Sometimes it feels so odd to help people in this way and then come home to my comfortable home.  It is certainly humbling and the team knows that we are on track, doing God's work.

And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,

Then your light will rise in darkness,
And your gloom will bec
