Connie

Oh how we love Connie!  She truly represents the chronically homeless person.  She was the very first person we ever gave a pillow to, and we continue to see her repeatedly on the streets, usually at Young's Market on Orange Blossom Trail.  Today she was SO excited to receive this beautiful purple flowered shirt.  She is always telling me that her favorite color is purple.  Each time I see her, I feel like she is family and we give each other a big hug.  I took her an adult coloring book several weeks ago.  As is typical with homeless people, it got wet, and she had to throw it away.  So, I have restocked my supply of adult coloring books and will be giving her a brand new one in a Ziploc bag when I see her again.  Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming to see someone be so grateful for the small things when we have so much.  Two years ago, Connie asked Jesus into her heart, and that is the only thing that really counts!

“And if you give yourself to the hungry,

And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,

Then your light will rise in darkness,
And your gloom will bec
ome like midday.”
